IHAC-NACA Study on Officer Perspective on Community Engagement
Monday, November 07, 2022, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT
Category: Webinar

Animal control/field services can serve as an important bridge to the communities they serve, however, they are often underutilized in this capacity. These individuals have valuable perspectives on engaging historically underserved communities that should be leveraged in the development of future policies and programs to address systemic inequities and create sustained change.

The Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) is partnering with the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) to conduct a series of research studies that will address the critical gap in the literature and the animal welfare industry in understanding the perspectives on how to effectively engage with historically and systemically excluded communities through animal control and field services. The results of this study will provide a nuanced picture of approaches to community engagement on animal control/field services issues from the perspectives of the professionals tasked with enforcing current laws and policies.
