(FREE) Animal Cruelty Workshop: Identification and Documentation of Crimes Against Animals
Tuesday, April 18, 2023, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
Category: In Person Training

Animal cruelty is a major issue throughout the United States and it takes a team of investigators, veterinarians, forensics analysts, and attorneys to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty cases. The successful prosecution of these crimes depends, largely, on the documentation, collection, and analysis of the evidence.

The University of Florida Veterinary Forensic Sciences Laboratory will be hosting a 4-hour workshop on the identification and documentation of animal cruelty cases. This workshop is open to law enforcement, crime scene investigators, animal control officers, veterinarians, and prosecutors interested in advancing their knowledge of identifying and documenting cases of animal cruelty. Three hours of this course will be lecture format and topics will include an overview of veterinary forensics, review of forensic examinations of animals, injury documentation, evidence collection, and case studies.

One hour of the course will be hands-on where participants will learn how to properly document injuries and practice evidence collection techniques.

Registration fee: Free
